Holiday Programme - Voice Changer

Ever wanted to sound like a robot, a monster, a space explorer, or something completely out of this world? Introducing The Voice Changer — a hands-on electronics project that lets you record your voice, save your sound files, and then play them back with weird and wonderful effects.
The unit has its own handheld microphone, built-in speaker, headphone output, screen, buttons and menu controls. You can save up to 6 recordings of around 20 seconds each, then experiment with effects like echo, pitch shifting, distortion, tremolo and reverb to completely transform the sound. You can control everything from the unit itself, or connect to it from a phone or computer to adjust settings using a simple web interface.
On the day you will get to solder the electronics, assemble the laser-cut case, fit the speaker, screen, buttons and microphone, and load the code onto the onboard microcontroller. The unit is powered by a USB cable so no batteries required. At the end of the day you’ll walk away with a fully working voice-changing gadget that you built yourself, ready to prank your family, invent strange characters, or create your own sci-fi sound effects.
No previous experience is required and you’re welcome to bring a grown up if you want to.
Please note it is a one-day workshop so students should only book for one session.
